La Spezia - Creativity and Creation

The programme focuses on contemporary culture and in particular on the new generations of artists and on the figure of two protagonists of the culture of our century: Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Eugenio Montale. It will consist of two parts characterised by two different thematic guidelines (the one will be carried out througout the province, the other only within the city). The themes have been proposed by the prominent concert Associations of the city. Within the European framework of the project the province of La Spezia will concentrate on finding a contact and implementing an exchange with France, Provence and Corsica.

Province of La Spezia

- The Young Sound.
The programme will concentrate on the topic of creativity in the contemporary historical context. In the framework of an interprovincial network of initiatives new pieces and ballets will be ordered with the aim of enhancing the ability and quality of young interpreters. Among the proposed initiatives: pieces written and/or performed by young composers from the seven cities participating in the project, a performance based on contemporary music and ballet, series of concerts performed in different locations throughout the province.
La Spezia (city)

- Creativity and Creation.
The Societ� dei Concerti has individualised the possibility of sketching out a cultural and historical excursus of the creative aspects of our city, also with reference to the area of Provence and Corsica, that from the beginning of our millenium brings us to the avant-gardes of the XX century. From monasticism, an important religious presence in the gulf exerting its influence as far as Corsica, and from the frequent cultural exchanges in the same period between the troubadors of the Tuscan-Ligurian area and the Proven�al area, throughout the Reinassance and the Baroque, we come to the various cultural movements of the early XX century.
Among them we intend to underline two fundamental aspects: a) the relationship between the poetry of Eugenio Montale and music, keeping in mind how Montale loved the marine landscape of our province (moreover in 1996 we will celebrate his centenary of birth); b) the vively activity of the Futurist present in La Spezia, that stimulates on one side a deeper analysis of the Futurist movement seen as a form of avant-gard and, in the other side, a reflection on the current tendencies of the creative forces of the world of music and performing arts.
