2005 - "'Gli ordini monastici' Monastic orders"

Defenders of European culture

Nowadays there is a growing sensibility of European peoples towards Christian culture and the places where it developed: monasteries, convents and abbeys. It was in this places that both religious and cultural elements were kept alive and diffused, in particular during the "dark" ages. An increasing quantity of people follow these paths that lead towards the research of a more authentic religious feeling and to a deeper sense of life, with a consciousness which is religious and cultural all the same.

The national Committee Sport e Cultura per la Pace (Sport and Culture for Peace), launched in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of Athens Olympic Games, under the patronage of the President of Italy, asked many other institutions to collaborate to a common programme focusing on the exploration of the places where religious communities developed. To the programme "Monastic orders: defenders of European culture" are going to take part: Comitato Lombardia Europa Musica 2000, Fondazione Festival Autunno Musicale a Como, Euro-Mediterraneo Culture dei Mari, with the collaboration of more than thirty Municipalities and Local Authorities in Lombardia, Lazio, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, and abroad in Croatia, Albania and Spain.

The bulletin De Musica, published by Camt-am presents the project in order to highlight its unitary conception.
